You all can have a bit less worries this night.
Getting ready to the trip involves quite a bit of changes. One of them is packing up all your stuff from all these years, and moving it on a highway to your parents' house in Haifa (860NIS, including tip). As we reached with the van, we heard the sound of blasting glasses from the house of my neighbours. A quick phonecall to the owners didn't help, so I started looking around. Didn't help either. As I was talking with the movers, I spotted two unfamiliar boys (15 or 18 years old), wearing all white, looking quite out of place. So, as I'm used to, I started following them while calling the police. The girl that answered me on 100 jumped as she heard we're in a middle of a real time crime, and 10 seconds later I was on the phone with what is called "the launcher", also know as "hameshager". He asked me what were they wearing, what were they doing, and I followed them till they disappeared in the corner of my street. We finished unpacking all my stuff from the van until the police came. A quick survey of the police revealed a screwdriver near the window, and no signs of getting into the house. We must have scared them with the van we came in. I gave my testimony, and a description of the suspects. (It is really amazing how things get blured trying to remember them just a couple of minutes after they happen!). She told me that thanks to me 2 burglars will get off the street, and skepticly I wished the policewoman that interviewed me with good luck. Took the train back to Tel-Aviv back to work (5 hours late, sadly not uncommon these days), and fell asleep while reading about this French goalkeeper that came to Israel this week. Woke up to find a message from my neighbour. Apparently, my description led to their capture. They both had a criminal past, one of them just came out of jail. It's good to know that sometimes the police is taking seriousely even small crimes like attempted break-in. I just hope good things will come out of all of this. Oh well.
